Fast forward to today

19 maart 2018 - Letur, Spanje

Unfortunately my bluetooth keyboard isn't working well nor my tablet, so I am typing this on my mobile. May take a little longer this way :-)
I am just going to fast forward a bit to our arrival in Letur last Friday.... when we left Cal Paradis after that great lunch we drove to Tarragona. We had booked a bungalow at camping Arc de Bara. A good choice on one hand, because it rained that evening, but the bungalow! It was a hut, with 2 bunk beds. In between the bungalows there was maybe 0,5 meter. And the opposite bungalow had like 1 meter in between. I felt terrible, confined, no breathing space.... And the rain didn't help either of course. Plus we had to leave Kruimel, the caravan outside the camping, at a parking lot. That made me feel uneasy as well. What if somebody would try to break some windows to get in? It was a restless night, didn't sleep much. Was I happy to find Kruimel still in one piece the next morning and pleased to leave this camping a.s.a.p!
Next stop: camping Devesa Gardens in Valencia. So much better then the previous camping! Good facilities, within walking distance of a beach and a spacious camping spot. But...so much wind!! So that was another restless night.
On average the car uses 1 liter per 10 km, so not very economical. Fortunately we had that wind in the back the next day, otherwise it would have been a lot less km's per liter :-)
A week ago, Monday March 12th we arrived in Benijofar, a place just south of Alicante. Here we were going to meet Sean, who I 'met' through workaway.info. He is building an earthship and we wanted to know more about that, but unfortunately he didn't need volunteers in March. So I had asked him if we could meet him anyway and if he'd be willing to show us his place and what he had done and tell us the why and how. Ps. an earthship is built with recycled materials and is selfsufficient (energy, water, sewerage, food). We stayed at Sean's home for 2 nights and drove up to his place, a valley in a national park, on Tuesday. Is was a beautiful place.... green and peaceful. His earthship is far from finished but he had some space ready to live in, applying there also the principals of an earthship. It was quite impressive to see how he had made 'windows' which warmed up water and were also capable of warming and cooling the room without electricity. He also showed us the indoor aquaponics system he had built and explained how to set up something like that. With aquaponics you can grow vegetables, fruit and herbs all year round. They were definitely 2 very interesting days with Sean and we saw and heard a lot of great ideas and practical solutions for all kind of things!

Wednesday and Thursday we spent at camping La Monte in Torre de la Horadada. It's a camping where a lot of retired people stay over during winter, mainly Germans, and the camping was full of big, luxurious campers, some the size of a truck! With our tiny, oldtimer caravan we were a bit out of place there haha. But it was worthwhile the visit...the camping was well set up (great showers) and the weather was nice. Finally a bit of sun and warmth :-)

Ok, so far this travel story. Letur will be the next...
