Cal Paradis, Salo

So, here I am, sitting in the sun, amidst the trees and hills. It’s a little gem, this place, tucked away in the heart of Catalonia, in the region of Bages, just one hour from Barcelona. It’s lovely here ...

We arrived here yesterday late in the afternoon. A little later than planned, because we got stuck in a traffic jam for almost 2 hours, due to an accident on the A9. Nothing you can do about that, plus we have plenty of time :-). Soon after the traffic jam we passed the French-Spanish border and left the hightway to continue on the C-25. Since we left, the scenery along the highway hasn’t been that spectacular, but the C-25 takes you through a green mountainous area. Side effect was there were more frequent stretches that we had to climb. Fortunately not very steep ones, so the car has been able to reach every top so far, towing the small Chateau 280.

Yesterday it was actually fun to park the caravan and arrange everything we needed to have a covered area outside to sit and eat and to get the caravan ready for the night. The sun was still shining when we arrived here, our camping spot looked great and it was not as chilly as the afternoons/evenings before. By the time we were ready to go to bed, the temperature had dropped ofcourse and we still had to sleep under a couple of blankets :-)

Our alarm clock in the morning is Moos. Around 6:45-7:00 he gets up from his spot at our feet and lies or sits down right in the middle of the bed, all geared up for some activity and not taking ‘no’ for an answer. So we got up, went for a walk and had our breakfast after that. It was still chilly, but the sky was blue and for sure it was going to be a wonderful day!

And it has been...the weather was great...sunny and warm with a bit of a breeze. We used today for domestic stuff like doing our laundry, wash dishes, give Corne a haircut.... At home these domestic activities can be boring, but when performed outside in an idyllic setting, with the right temperature and amount of sun and lots of time, it’s pretty enjoyable :-)
